Sithonia Halkidiki
Sithonia is a peninsula of Halkidiki and the middle one of its three peninsulas. It is characterized by its stunning natural landscapes.
Among its highlights are both organized and secluded beaches, as well as beautiful pine forests that shape the unique scenery.
The peninsula is bordered by the Siggitikos Gulf to the east (today known as the Gulf of Athos) and the Toroneos Gulf to the west (today known as the Gulf of Kassandra). Mount Itamos lies at the center of the peninsula.
Among the many sites of Sithonia are the ancient city, the Kastro, the Church of St. Athanasios in Toroni, the windmills of Sykia, and the 16th-century church in Nikiti.
Nikiti is also the administrative center of the Municipality of Sithonia. Porto Koufo is the largest bay and one of the most natural and safest harbors in Greece, also mentioned by Thucydides.
The largest settlement is Neos Marmaras, located in the middle of the peninsula and serving as the region’s main commercial center.

Beaches in Sithonia
At the southern tip of the peninsula lies the area of Kartalia, where some of the most famous beaches are located, such as Azapiko, Tristinika, Korakas, Marathias, Kalamitsi, Kriaritsi, and others.
On the other side, you will find the mountainous settlement of Sykia with its beach, the tourist resort of Toroni, Vourvourou, and the bay of Panagia, which is located at the beginning of the peninsula.
All settlements are spread across the peninsula, mainly in its central and southern parts.
